Fishing Reports

This Week's Report
Nov. 5-11, 2007

Troutfishers fishing report for the week of November 5th through the 11th. Temperatures jumped up a little this week and the trips were good.

Monday was a wade trip day with the Boyette Family. They wanted to learn how to fly fish, so we waded the streams around the base of Grandfather Mountain. We spent the first hour doing some casting lessons and then it was off to fish. The morning was the best time, as the fish were more active. After lunch a cool wind started to blow and the fish shut down.

Tuesday was a trip down to the Sylva and Dillsboro area to do a wade trip with Charles, April, and Skip. They are return clients wanting to learn the waters around their second home. We worked many different sections throughout the day and the fishing was great. April felt she was rusty on her casting, but it didn’t take long until she was out-fishing the guys.

We floated the Watauga tailwater in Elizabethton with Uncle Charlie and Zach. They were traveling through the area on business and called me a week before to set up a trip. The fishing was great from the time we got on the water until we came off, as the sun was setting. The bigger browns are moving around really good, Zach can vouch for that. What a nice brown. Uncle Charlie had as much fun watching Zach as he did fishing when we were working a pod of risers to a caddis hatch.

Thursday was back to the Tuckaseegee for the second day with Charles, April, and Skip. They picked up where they left off on Tuseday. After lunch April stepped it up a notch and really gave the guys a fishing lesson. She really got into using that dry and dropper to a pod of rising fish. She caught over 20 in the last hour. It was great to see them again.

Friday I spent the day with the wife doing errands and a little more Christmas shopping. She keeps telling she is done, but I saw yep sure.

We floated the Tailwater Saturday with David and Julie Nichols and their respective fathers. This was a Christmas gift to their Dads from last year. The day started of decent despite the incoming cold front. When the front arrived around lunch the fishing just shut off. They worked hard throwing Woolly Buggers and Wiggle Minnows in the afternoon for a more fish. Their fathers thanked us for a great day on water.

We are going to see a good warm up this coming week, so the fish activity will see an upturn. We still have some openings for November and are starting to book some in December. Be sure to contact us if we can be of assistance with a wade or float trip.

I want to thank those that stop by to read my fishing reports, I hope you continue to come back.
